January 7 – 10, 2012 in Dallas, Texas

The ICT Center, the Convergence Technology Center, and their Mentored College Leaders nationwide are partnering to bring you a combined conference and workshop experience in the heart of the United States, easily accessible from everywhere in the nation. Please join us for two days of fast-paced networking opportunities and conference presentations followed by two days of an in-depth faculty institute at the Collin College Preston Ridge Campus in Frisco TX.

The Convergence Technology Center (CTC) www.greenitcenter.org partners with businesses and colleges around the country to create certificates and degrees in emerging converged technologies in IT infrastructure. The center has created a Mentor College Network to support colleges in implementing their own convergence programs through skills identification and curriculum offerings, under-served recruiting strategies and professional development for faculty. 

The ICT Center www.ictcenter.org is the driving force behind a national ICT Community of Practice including educational institutions and idustry representatives to create and distribute current and emerging ICT content and curriculum through conferences and new media technologies.

session details:

Saturday and Sunday sessions will consist of 45 minute sessions beginning January 7th at 1:00 PM CST and concluding January 8th at 5:30 PM CST.  Monday and Tuesday each attendee will choose one topic to focus in a two-day workshop beginning on January 9th at 8:30 AM CST concluding Tuesday at 4:30 PM CST.  Lunch is included Sunday through Tuesday.

ELIGIBLE ATTENDEES:

High School, Community College, and University staff and faculty -  Everyone that attends all four days of the conference will be provided a certificate of completion.

Call For Presentations and Demonstrations:

The ICT Center and the CTC are both very interested in high quality ICT educational practices. This call for presentations and demonstrations is an effort to offer ICT current, new and emerging technical content and ICT and industry educator resources.  This is an opportunity to share the work you are doing in your programs and any current and emerging technologies you are developing.
We will be accepting presentations in the areas of                       

  • Industry contributions to ICT and Convergence education,
  • Professional Learning Networks and collaboration connections,
  • New and emerging ICT and Convergence technology
  • National and regional resources for ICT and Convergence educators
  • New teaching and delivery methods
  • ICT and Convergence education and workforce diversification efforts

Proposed presentations should be one or two 45-minute segments and we encourage interactive, hands-on or lab elements. Please submit your presentation proposalby 5:00 PM EST, December 1, 2011. Presenters selected will be notified by December 5, 2011. Please let us know whether you require a computer laboratory, classroom space, audio/visual support and/or any special needs in terms of Internet connectivity.

Travel Assistance:

Current grant funding allows for eligible attendees to apply for some of their travel expenses to be reimbursed. Travel assistance application link is on the Registration Page.  Travel reimbursement qualifications:

  • Attendee must be registered and attend all 4 days of the Winter Working Connections Conference.
  • Attendee must live a one-hour drive or more from the Collin College Preston Ridge campus.
  • Attendee must submit an estimate of travel expenses before January 7, 2012.

Up to $500 of qualified and reasonable* transportation and hotel costs to educators one or more hours away from the event is available to the first 75 qualified attendees. The CTC will reimburse on a first-come, first-served basis, until funds are exhausted.  Please note that there are no other types of travel reimbursement available through either the CTC or the ICT Center at this time.

*Reasonable transportation and hotel costs are: 2-week advance purchase, economy class air or mileage @ $0.50/mile (whichever is less) and hotel not more than $120 per night before taxes, four night maximum.
